Edited, Dec 12th pm by Rattlegore. Comment by Allakhazam I tamed him at 15 somewhat buffed up with potions and stat food. I had about a third of my health left. Comment by Allakhazam Like Drygulch said, this guy can be a serious time consumer when trying to tame him.
However the end result is worth it, quite a lovely Teddybear. Also I found a copper field nearby, for those interested in such things. Comment by Allakhazam Wow this guy is glitched or something Comment by Allakhazam You guys keep talking about ravage, but i got him and didnt get any specal effects other than claw Comment by Allakhazam Mangeclaw uses the white polar bear skin.
Did not use the "Ice Claw" slow attack but had a "Ravage" attack which is an interupt, a pain in the butt for any Hunters trying to tame him. On occasion he would use the attack early, giving you enough time and HPs to get another tame animal off before he uses the attack again. Comment by Allakhazam i named him Iorek too except is spelled it Ioric. Comment by Allakhazam I've tamed this bear twice.
Once the moment I hit Used the interrupt swipe early in the taming, so I was able to finish taming with very minimul life left less than a sliver each time I tried it. I also had on a goblin potion that restores 2 HP every 5 seconds, so I'm betting that helped. Did the same thing the next time taming him and the exact same thing happened. Only tamed him the second time because I didn't like the first name I gave him.
Tamed him again and now Iorek is my trusty companion. I love this snow white bear. Comment by Allakhazam Hey does anyone know, when you abandon him do you learn Ravage for the beast training? Comment by Allakhazam alright i have a level 23 ghostpaw howler and hes alright but im gettin kind of sick of his strict meat diet, i want somethin that can eat fish.
Comment by squiretoad He's now the target of a quest from one of the dwarves there: "Pilot's Revenge". I tried taming him while I still had the quest, and no joy: three times and he just kept hammering on me when my tame ran out, no sign of error or anything, but no name.
I ran for my life barely making it. Now finishing the quest killed Mangeclaw as part of it , and will try again. Watch this space. Okay, my dumb, forgot about that attack he has. Nice bear, only white one in Darkshore, I wager :. Hunter ilvl 32 tamed him at pm est. Aggramar realm. He does not have the talent Ravage anymore. Easy to tame. He does have the new bear characteristics. Pure white bear with blue eyes. Comment by sugamama This is a pretty easy bear to tame if you are horde. I quested my tauren in Durotar which helped a lot.
I was prepared and bought scrolls of stamina as well as agility and healing pots thinking it was going to be a nightmare. I never needed the healing pots at all.
If you do the quests in durotar that give you the cactus apple surprise as well as the one for the sticky glue, the whole thing is a snap provided you ran down there naked and have undamaged clothes for the taming. I merely ate the food buff, put on a scroll and drank an agility pot then aggroed the bear. If you glue it in place and tame he will eventually break loose and knock you on your butt but you'll still be at full health to try again really quick. I may have gotten lucky but I was able to get him after the knockback with only minimal loss of health at lvl Hope this helps out some fellow hordies because it's an awfully long run if you die I died oodles on my way down there!

Comments Comment by I am new to wowhead so I am unsure of the procedure for posting mob item drops. I have been attacking Mangeclaw to find the Mechanical Squirrel Schematic and he dropped an item not currently listed.
The Journeyman's Stave is a useful piece of equipment for lower level characters and if anyone is able to add this to Mangeclaw's drop list I am sure the information would be useful. Good luck Aus. Comment by This guy is awesome! I know he may spec the same as other bears but between looks and his tanking ability the Mangeclaw is a lot of fun to keep in the stable.
He will be part of the family for a while. The map showed right where he is, east of Ironforge, to the left of the path between two ridges.
There was a wolf or two in front of him, pick them off one at a time and then go after the Mangeclaw, it took me two times because I was not careful the first time but he was not much of a problem the second time around. Enjoy this power house. Comment by Actually, you don't have to run away. As soon as Mangeclaw does the interrupting spell - retame it again, without running etc. Comment by Mangeclaw's attack which interrupts taming , he at least only does it once per battle.
Comment by Just tamed this fellow today, with my lv11 hunter he's on an RP-PvP server, decided hunter-ez-mode would be a good way to sample the PvP servers. It only took me one try. He does have an interrupt, but he doesn't always use it, though he did against me.
Here was my strategy: 1 Cleaned out the area. The Lunar Fortune buff available right now helps. I didn't need it, but the extra HP at this level was a nice buffer for what might have been a longer tame. Comment by Erlinn The important thing to remember when you want to tame Mangeclaw is he does, in fact, only use his swipe once per fight, or that it has a wicked long cooldown on it.
The easiest way to tame him, I found, is to use your pet that you tamed at I had a boar and it was perfect for this with its high health and armor. Just send your pet in to attack Mangeclaw alone. Don't attack the bear in any other way. Watch carefully for when the bear uses Swipe, once he does, quickly abandon your pet yes, you can do it in the middle of a fight and begin to tame beat. I used this method and got Mangeclaw on the first try.
Comment by when you say frost trap i think you mean freezing trap Think before you post. So those Snow Leopards walking around? They'll have to go.
Comment by The reason this is such fast spawn is because it is a quest spawn. I have done the kill him quest like 16 times with various alts. At least once someone killed the guy when I was healing up. All I did was abandon and reaccpet the quest.
And pop he was there again. Another thing you can do is if you have a higher hunter friend ask them to help you tame him, all they have to do is lay down a ice trap.
Doing that will make him unable to attack you and use that swipe. Otherwise cool looking pet, can't wait to get on new hunter. Comment by For my 2 cents i redirect you to a little Fairy dust still clear the leopards though : Just farm the dust on your main from the mobs in westfall and use it on him : useable tactic by both factions.
Comment by Well, cool little side feature I just discovered new to playing a hunter, so, forgive me if I am sounding stupid. Mange is level 11, but, once I tamed him as a 28 hunter he popped up to level Awesome to not have to grind through all those exp levels.
The swipe is only an issue for those who are trying to tame him at the appropriate level; yes, he hit me with the swipe but, hitting tame again got him no problem and of course the health bar was barely scratched. Beautiful bear, and rather unique at lower levels since he's just about the only white bear until winterspring. I have yet to see another hunter with him on my server Not hard to get but I don't think a lot of people know about him anymore.
My tank forever I believe Comment by munkyv22 Level 11 Dwarf Hunter. Got him on the first try. No tricks, no pots, no help. Just cast Tame and when he swipes, cast it again. Comment by Eruionmel So an interesting find: Mangeclaw is a she. While questing in wetlands with her I was being attacked by the undead sailors on the boats north of Menethil and was getting the curse on me that turns me undead. Amusingly enough, so did my bear. With one difference: my bear showed as a female undead every time she was shifted!
