He wants to know that she will love him during the good times and the bad times. He wants to be able to have support to fall back on if must be, and he is looking for that to be her. In his eyes, she is a powerful woman, with the chance to make him or break him. Back to song list 3 Doors Down - Kryptonite - Lyrics Meaning The lyrics of Kryptonite by 3 Doors Down is a metaphor for a man who believes that he is strong in all other aspects of life besides his relationship.
Add your own interpretation and discuss lyrics of this song: Name:. Because of the god-like status he has placed on her, he has allowed her existence to suck dry the true God-power that indwelt him, by worshiping the true God. This song parallels well with the story of Samson and Delilah found in the book of Judges, chapters 13 through Our one and only Savior is Jesus Christ. He is who we were created to worship. If it didn't create you it cannot define you, and therefore cannot satisfy you as the object of your worship.
The human race had relationship with God, turned our backs on Him, and became enslaved to worship created things rather than our Creator, at our own misery. Sadly this is not something we can just "turn around" from, because we become stuck to these objects of worship, more powerful than us.
Forgiveness is something that is never free. If I come over to your house and break your lamp, 1 of 2 things can happen: You can demand repayment, or you can forgive me God, chose the latter. He did not leave us in this desperate situation. He came to earth in the form of man and took the punishment that we deserve for this transgression on Himself by dying on a cross. Because sin and false worship is the qualification for death, and He did not do that, the grave could not hold Him, He resurrected.
Basically, He traded our poor credentials for His glorious credentials. Now, by putting confidence in this act that was done for us, we now may obtain resurrection life in our mortal bodies and begin a process in which we worship the One whom we were created to worship and be transformed into His glorious likeness.
Not by our goodness, but by His. Read more at songmeanings. Idolatry enslaves and leaves us helpless. The human race had relationship with God, turned our backs on Him, and became enslaved to worship created things rather than our Creator, at our own misery, and this plays out in "Spiritual death".
He even illustrates this in the song I left my body lying somewhere in the sands of time He obviously didn't physically die if he continues on in the song, this must reference a spiritual death.
This is the exact definition of hell. The very thing in our lives that we idolize above God, and we are unwilling to let them go we hold onto them so tight and so unyieldingly, and as a result causes us to go crazy. The fire mentioned in eternal hell is symbolic for the pains and craziness of our idolatry that come from the absence of Jesus, because Jesus is referred to as the water of life, and the only thing that can quench fire is water.
Lewis once said "there are two kinds of people in the world, those who say "thy will be done" to God, and those to whom God, in the end, says "thy will be done. General Comment "I took a walk around the world to Ease my troubled mind I left my body laying somewhere In the sands of time I watched the world float to the dark Side of the moon I feel there is nothing I can do, yeah" This verse means that he's thinking back to a tragic time when he lost a dear friend.
And since his friend had died, he suffered greatly. Kryptonite" The chorus states that, since the friend is gone, that he can't be alive and well, and he becomes unfeeling and unforgiving of being left behind. The loss of his friend is his devastating weakness. And the only way he can find to do this is to show people that he's still effected by the death. Some of you may not agree with me, but out of several ways to interpret this song, it all leads back to one string of thought that immeadiately runs through your head over and over again And that is to be loyal to your friends and forgive them of their mistakes, and relieve tham of their pain.
I've always though that this refers to the death of a dear and close loved one, because I first heard this when I was ripped away from everything I'd ever known And this song reminds me to look back on all of the good and bad memories to forgive but not forget Psychos-Anonymous on June 21, Link. That's a very interesting perception of the song, and it certainly can be anyone's perception so they choose it to be.
I really like how your opinion of the songs meaning was broken down, and I too can relate to how you described Kryptonite. General Comment i think the song is about someone who was taken for granted, after all his effort of giving the one he loves everything she needs, coming to her side everytime she needs him, doing the dirty works, doing everything she asked for No Replies Log in to reply.
My Interpretation There's some really great interpretations listed for this song by many users, and I think that's what makes this song so great It can apply to so many different situations. I think there's some solid meaning behind it being about friendship, celebrity's, drugs or possibly even an alter ego as someone above mentioned. My own interpretation is it being about drugs, and for some reason I have a feeling that if it were about drugs from this band that it would be about methamphetamine.
Although I've never even tried methamphetamine, it just strikes me as the drug that they would be talking about given the contradictions I hear in almost every verse. He doesn't care how bad of a trip he has as long as in the end everything will be alright, so things might be pretty intense right now. Kryptonite" When he get's high off of this drug he feels inside of his head like superman, nothing can harm him. But drugs like cocaine, and methamphetamine can induce schizophrenia and instead of leaving you feel invincible and confident can do a complete on you and have you not thinking rationally and possibly fearful thus you would be acting or thinking crazy and not confident at all more or less scared.
The drug holds his hand, as his method of coping with whatever issues he has or just to get by in life. And it is always by his side his "Kryptonite". And the secrets he may keep are possibly part of his euphoria, that even if he tried he could not say what he experienced but he knows it happened that ones kind of hard to explain to anybody who hasn't had the kind of high I am talking about, usually with odd or heavy drugs.
And the last part to em explains how without the drugs he possibly would be dead, as he needed them as a crutch and were actually helpful at one point. That's my interpretation of the song at least. AbsentMinded on June 11, Link. AbsentMinded Indigo Gypsy on March 13, AbsentMinded I think you pegged it in part but that this person met someone in that dark side of the world whos life was almost ended if not for this persons rescue who is later asking if this rescuer should go crazy would the other stand beside or would they go crazy too.
Will you not be jealous of me? As for the Superman of it all, Arnold has always been a fan, but the character is simply meant to be a symbol of constant strength.
The job of a music video director is to take a band's music and wrap a coherent visual narrative around it. Here he was unable to do so. He had never heard 3 Doors Down before but he liked the song a lot. Sitting in a bar, he took the word 'kryptonite' and ran with it, writing a treatment that involved pondering the question 'Where do old superheroes go when they die? The director remembers meeting Mike Teitelbaum, who played the video's main character: an old man who watches clips of himself in his heyday as a superhero on TV, then chases down a pimp harassing a woman in the old man's apartment block.
Karr says that, like everyone in Hollywood, Teitelbaum had multiple strings to his bow. When he wasn't auditioning for acting jobs, he was a medical doctor and a hypnotist who performed under the stage name Dr. The video was a two-day shoot. Karr remembers the band being devoid of ego and great to work with, if a little stiff to begin with. And that's not always the case when you have egos and stuff involved. Karr knew that for the opening chunk of the video he wanted to use the Rosslyn Lofts, an apartment complex in downtown LA that used to be the Rosslyn Million Dollar Fireproof Hotel.
The bar whose stage the band sings on, and which is frequented by elderly superheroes in lurid and revealing outfits, was the Cowboy Palace Saloon, 30 miles away in the valley. It was next to a strip club, to which Karr ventured with various members of his team as soon as they wrapped.
This would have been when it made its way onto Upchurch's radar. Adair joined in His friend Jane, who worked for the studio in which the band had just mixed their second album, Away from the Sun , played them some of his stuff; they loved it and Arnold asked him to audition. There, Adair had barely played anything when Arnold accepted him into the band and invited him jet skiing.
Like Upchurch, Adair wasn't in love with the song. I like the songs that other people don't like as much. This would be challenging for a drummer who wasn't familiar with the genre. Adair says it was always fun to play because it's full of drum fills and drum rolls. What always annoyed him, however, was that when the chorus started, guitarists Roberts and Henderson would crash in with a different rhythm, not a shuffle.
Though he was in the band for less than three years, Adair had the chance to perform in some remarkable environments. He still has a photo of him and Bush on his studio wall. They're cool. Adair remembers that over the months and years onstage, he would embellish the song to make it fun for himself. He would throw in six-stroke rolls to relieve the boredom of playing the same thing night after night.
The song has finesse, he says, and allowed for this experimentation. And my young egotist side liked it because I could show off some fancy stuff. Both Adair and Arnold also remember that Roberts, who was responsible for the iconic guitar intro, fucked it up half of the time.
